Matthew Flores of the Royal Malta Yacht Club has been named ILCA 6 Sailor of the Year. The award was presented at the prize-giving of the Malta Optimist Dinghy and Laser Class Associations’ Regatta 2023, hosted by the Birżebbuġa Sailing Club on 2nd and 3rd December.
It was a successful weekend all round for RMYC crews, who registered excellent results across the classes. Tomek Vaccaro won the ILCA 6 class ahead of Flores and Peter Jessop, completing an all-RMYC podium, while Lara Merten won the ILCA 6 Girls with Katrina Micallef third. Jonas Micallef won the Optimist Open.
