Jonathan Borg has resigned as Chairman of Yachting Malta after five months, following his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of Transport Malta.
His short tenure was a busy one. Yachting Malta hosted the Yacht Racing Forum, the Yachting Malta Coastal Race, the Yachting Malta IOM Open, the official launch of Viva Malta, the Yachting Malta BSC Regatta and the launch of the ORC Europeans. One initiative close to his heart was helping Ukrainian sailors compete at the Euromed International Championships last December, and under his direction Yachting Malta exhibited for the first time at the Düsseldorf and Dubai international boat shows.
“I am confident that Yachting Malta will continue to be a beacon to the local yachting scene. Yachting Malta has grown into a respected entity, and gaining recognition abroad. The team is well poised to achieve the strategy in place; nonetheless, they are assured of my commitment to co-operate through my new role, particularly in the development of the superyacht sector,” said Borg. The Board and staff thanked him and wished him well.
