Yachting Malta has bought three Hansa 303 boats for Malta’s sailing clubs, an initiative to promote inclusion in sailing and bring a new generation to the sport. The boats were unveiled at the opening of Yachting Malta’s new offices in Sa Maison, in the presence of Hon. Aaron Farrugia, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects, and Dr Lydia Abela, President of Special Olympics Malta.
The Hansa 303 is sailed in over 28 countries, is a recognised World Sailing class, and is designed to accommodate sailors with a wide range of disabilities. It was first raced at the Para World Championships in 2017. The initiative supports World Sailing’s campaign to reinstate para sailing at the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic Games. Yachting Malta has already supported Gianluca Aquilina at the Para World Sailing Championships in Palermo in October 2021. Frank Salt Real Estate sponsored one of the boats.
“Yachting Malta is proud to be officially opening its new premises. However, the most significant thing happening today is the unveiling of the Hansa 303 Parasailing boats. Yachting Malta’s motto is Sailing for Everyone, so including persons with disability into the sailing community was imperative for us,” said Chairman John Huber.
