Yachting Malta CEO Michael Mifsud joined the panel on yachting and sea tourism at the Malta Maritime Summit, which spent its final day on the superyacht sector.
The four-day summit brought together influential maritime stakeholders to debate the challenges facing the sector, from the post-Covid reality and technology to the environment and finance, and to draw up proposals for industry stakeholders.
Speakers agreed that Malta has much to offer as a cruising destination for superyachts. While small and medium berths are always full, super- and hyperyacht berths typically run at around 30% occupancy, and the new superyacht policy is seen as the tool to make Malta a quality superyacht destination.
Mifsud spoke on the session Is There Room for the Development of International Standard on Marinas, with Niki Travers Tauss and Emma Cassar, moderated by Mathieu Salomon. Yachting Malta congratulated John Gauci Maistre and his team on the organisation.
