Tommy Wallbank and Isaura Camilleri Zahra won the 10km race at the Burmarrad Edition of the Hudson Race Series powered by Nike on Sunday morning, the penultimate race of the 2026 series.
Flat and fast, the Burmarrad course drew a strong field of experienced veterans and newcomers, split almost equally between the two distances. The 10km runners completed the 5km loop twice in searing conditions.
Wallbank set the tone early, settling into a steady pace and opening a gap on the field to win in 32:53. Mark Herrera (33:08) and Matthew Xuereb (34:08) established their positions from the outset to complete the podium.
In the women’s race, Isaura Camilleri Zahra claimed her first win of the series in 38:01, pulling clear of race favourite Josann Attard Pulis. Marija Cumbo pressed hard throughout, but Attard Pulis held on to finish second, ten seconds ahead of Cumbo.
The men’s 5km produced an even tighter finish, with only seven seconds separating the top three. John Mintoff won in 15:50, five seconds ahead of Brandon Saliba, with Jacob Greengrass a further two seconds back. Roberta Schembri and Lisa Bezzina both made a welcome return to the series, and Schembri won by a clear margin from Bezzina, with Daniela Gatt third.
The organisers thanked the Hudson Group for their long-standing support, St Paul’s Bay Local Council, Transport Malta and the race officials and medical teams on the day. The series concludes on 8th December with the Valletta Edition.
