Christian Micallef delivered a commanding 10km win at the Hudson Race Series Maqluba Edition, leading from the front ahead of Mark Herrera and Jeremy Curmi, while favourite Josann Attard Pulis won the women’s race.
The Maqluba route, famous for its steep incline just metres from the start, again sold out, with around 300 runners in ideal conditions on the two-lap 10km or single-lap 5km course. Josianne Cilia Mumford held off Bernice Zammit by eight seconds for second in the women’s 10km.
The 5km brought new faces and a tighter finish: Lorenzo Lepri won by six seconds from Luke Vella, with Brandon Saliba third. Charyl Fava kept up her consistent series with another women’s win, while Sascha Genovese took her first series podium in second, seven seconds ahead of Nadia Mifsud.
Race Director Charlie Demanuele thanked sponsors Hudson Group, ProHealth Ltd (agents for La Roche Posay products), Transport Malta, the Qrendi and Żurrieq local councils, officials and marshals. The series, powered by Nike, continues in Dingli on 11th May.
