Mark Herrera and Josann Attard Pulis won the 10km race as the 2024 Hudson Race Series drew to a close with the Valletta Edition on Sunday morning. Brandon Saliba and Rosalie Borg Cauchi took the honours in the 5km race.
The final race of the five-race series was sold out once again. Known as one of the most demanding courses on the calendar, Valletta combines steep inclines with typical December weather.
Herrera gave a strong performance from the start to secure first place, with Leon Chetcuti and Clyde Sciberras following him home in second and third. Attard Pulis kept a comfortable lead in the women’s race, while behind her Josianne Cilia Mumford had to hold off Fleur Grima Azzopardi for second place.
The 5km race was a tight contest. Brandon Saliba narrowly beat Ryan Farrugia, with Heathcliff Vella third. Rosalie Borg Cauchi had to fend off a strong challenge from Charyl Fava to win the female race, with Nadia Mifsud completing the podium.
Hudson Race Series League
This year also saw the launch of the Hudson Race Series League, rewarding athletes for consistency across all five races. Leon Chetcuti and Josann Attard Pulis topped the 10km standings, while Ryan Farrugia and Charyl Fava claimed the 5km titles.
“The Hudson Race Series has come a long way since it started in 2015 as a 10k series. As we approach our 10th anniversary in 2025, we look forward to celebrating with familiar faces and newcomers alike. We are grateful to the Hudson Group for believing in our vision from day one,” remarked Race Director Charlie Demanuele. He also thanked the race officials, medical team, the Floriana and Valletta Local Councils, Malta Public Transport and Transport Malta.
The 2025 series returns with another five races, starting with the Three Cities Edition on Sunday 5th January.
