Dillon Cassar and Josann Attard Pulis took the 10km honours and Clayton Abela and Rosalie Borg Cauchi topped the 5km at the Hudson Race Series Burmarrad Edition, which again sold out both distances.
Cassar led from the gun, ahead of Charlton Debono and Mark Herrera, with Aaron Mifsud and Matthew Xuereb neck and neck behind them, and held his lead to win in 31:05. Race veteran Attard Pulis won the women’s race in 39:35, just ahead of Marija Cumbo, with Veronika Keryste third.
Abela claimed his first series victory in the 5km, seven seconds ahead of James Sciriha, with Jonathan Balzan two seconds further back. Borg Cauchi won the women’s 5km ahead of Tara Abdilla and Charyl Fava.
Before the start, Race Director Charlie Demanuele led a minute’s silence for 15-year-old athlete Jake Vella, who had passed away on the Friday. He thanked Hudson Group and Nike, Transport Malta, St Paul’s Bay Local Council, officials and volunteers. The 2024 series ends in Valletta on 8th December.
