At a press conference this afternoon, the support of Eurosport towards Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club Malta International Challenge Marathon was announced. The press conference was also attended by the Hon. Mr. Chris Agius, Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport as well as some of the Club’s top athletes.
For the past twenty-five years, the Malta International Challenge Marathon, has been Malta’s only multiday race, a staple event on the Maltese athletic calendar, attracting locals and foreigners alike. Spread over a period of three consecutive days, athletes cover a distance which measures exactly 42.195km.
2015 was a milestone year for the Club, when it celebrated forty years of sport. Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club has been on the forefront of race organisation since its inception forty years ago and over the years has built a strong race calendar in athletics, cycling, swimming and triathlon building a strong community between all levels of athletes.
“Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club has built a strong reputation for its race organisation. The Club built a strong local scene from which it is now moving onto larger and internationally promoted events like the Malta International Challenge Marathon which this year will be in its twenty sixth year” said Euchar Camilleri, Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club, Secretary General. “We are grateful for the support that Eurosport is giving this race as it will enable the Club to provide a race experience that all participants of Club events have grown to expect. With Eurosport’s contribution we can meet athletes’ expectations.
This is not the first time that the Birkirkara Club has been supported by Eurosport, the association goes back four years, when it started to support the Club’s annual 13th December road running race.

The Eurosport Malta International Challenge Marathon will take place between the 25th and 27th November. Race Registration is now open and registrations are being accepted for the full distance (42.195 kilometres), individual distances – 10 miles (16.0934kms), 5k and 21km, as well as relay teams where teams of three athletes cover the whole distance.
