Agones SFC to hit the trails with start of Eurosport Trail Running League 2018

Buskett surroundings to host season opener.

The 2018 trail running season will get underway on Sunday 14th January with the first race of the Eurosport Trail Running League organised by Agones SFC.

The 5-kilometre race, to be held in the environs of Buskett, is considered to be one of the nicest trail running experiences on the island and the short distance, five kilometres, makes this race particularly attractive for newcomers to the sport.

“Agones SFC have been instrumental in the introduction of trail running in Malta. Trail runners have found that a non-urban environment makes a refreshing change from running on our congested and polluted roads”, explained Warren Muscat, President, Agones SFC. “The past six years has seen the sport grow, with participation in our events increasing substantially. In 2017, our Club registered the largest number of participants in all the trail races, so we are confident that this year will see yet another increase,”

Registration is open online – http://www.agones-sfc.eu/event/agones-sfc-trail-running-league-2018/. Although registrations will be accepted until half an hour before the race starts, organisers are encouraging early registration.

All events will be electronically timed through the ARRTS timing system.

The Eurosport Trail Running League is scheduled to take place on the following dates and locations: –

Trail Run 1 – Sunday 14th January – Buskett (5km)

Trail Run 2 – Friday 16th February (night) – B’Bugia (5km)

Trail Run 3 – Sunday 4th March – Munxar, Malta (10km)
